North Shore Golf League

     NSGC  Club Champion

2014 Club Champion:  Jeremy Berg

The weather conditions were perfect and the course was ripe for some low scores.     Barb Hecimovich carded an 82.   Jim Haker and Mark Silver (83),  Skip Kelley (84),  Bob Gorey (85) & Jim Rappoli were all in the hunt.    However, the day belonged to Jeremy Berg.  He shot a sizzling 73 to capture the title of NSGC Club Champion for 2014.  Outstanding.

Tournament Low Net

A lot of folks predicted that Mike D'Amico, Mike O'Sullivan, Jim Haker, Ken LeBlanc or Rich Barbati  would win the overall low net round.  Everyone guessed wrong.

If you picked Jere O'Sullivan you would have been close.  He had a great round for a net 65.  Same for Ed Bauer (65) and Bill Noonan (66).   All very nice but the day belonged to Berg with a net 64.   Jeremy attibuted his success to a couple of helpful pointers from his foursome cart mate Ralph D'Elia (Ralph schooled Jeremy on how to hole a bunker shot from 75 yards out on the first hole.  Seriously.  Nobody saw the shot and they gave up looking after a 5 minute search.  They were surprized to find the ball in the cup)

2013 Club Champion:   Jim Rappoli (39)

It was wet.  Really wet.   Many decided to stay home.   Several showed up but decided not to play when they saw the conditions.    Cazoo was ready to play but he left after learning that there would be no sausages at the turn.

31 people set out in the steady rain.   Some gave it up after 9.  Those who continued were greeted with heavier rain.  The course began to flood.   The siren sounded to end action .  The course was determined to be unplayable.

After the scorecards were dried off,  Jim Rappoli was declared the Club Champion.

In other action,  Jeremy Berg, Skip Kelley, Jim Haker and Mark Silva all finished with 41.  Mark won the low gross in the flight based on a tie breaker. Larry Egan won the low net with a 33.

Dick Pais won the A flight low gross with a 44.  Mike O'Sullivan won the low net of 35 (beating Bob Gorey on another tie breaker)

Robin Lambert rejoiced in the rain with a personal best 40 to win the B flight low gross.   She attributes her stellar effort to her anger of being dumped from Steve O'Brien's foursome.    The unfeeling Steve would go on to post a low net of 35.

In the C flight, Ed O'Brien won with a 51.   Lynette took the low net with a 38.

Ralph Callahan won the closest to the pin on 17.  Joe Kennedy won it on the 5th.   Skip Kelley had the longest drive on 10.  Lynette and Dee tied the longest drive for the ladies.

2009   Skip Kelley
The 2009 Club Championship was our 14th. With this year’s win, Skip has won half of them and five of the last six. Can you say dynasty? “Sandbagger of the Year”, Cazoo, came within two strokes but had a big hiccup on one of his holes which cost him. Sorry, I can’t remember which hole it was. We had a beautiful day and the course opened all but the new 16th for us. This week the course will be fully open for League play for the first time in five (?) years.
